Substitutes for honey
Honey substitutes
Honey adds sweetness, moisture and its own flavour. Choose sugar and liquid for a pantry mixture, or a syrup-and-sugar blend whose flavour suits the recipe.
What honey does
A sweet, thick liquid that adds moisture and flavor, browns quickly and helps baked goods stay soft. It is sweeter than most other liquid sweeteners.

What changes
Adds maple flavour instead of honey flavour.
Corn syrup and sugar

How we source this
Each swap is backed by at least two independent sources, including a test kitchen, university extension service or product maker. The amounts replace one unit of the original ingredient and do not work in reverse. See the full source list.
